Red Deer – Native to Europe, and a close relative of the Rocky Mountain Elk. Introduced to New Zealand in 1851. End of March –End of April (Roar Season) November – January
Thar and Chamois – The Thar is originally from the Himalyan Mountains of Asia, they were released into New Zealand’s Southern Alps in 1904. Chamois is native to central and southern Europe. Introduced to New Zealand in 1907. End of April-End of July.
